Weekend Event Roundup: September 30, 2023

Headlining the second week of competitive events are six massive in-state events, including the first-ever Music For All Affiliate Event to be held in South Carolina.

The 2023 Marching season is officially in full swing, and the action continues this weekend with six events covering the entire state. It is sure to be an exciting day no matter where you are on Saturday, as many bands will step off for their first judged performance of the year.

C. Phillip McIntyre Tournament of Bands

James F. Byrnes HS, Duncan, SC

Named in honor of former Byrnes director and SCBDA Hall-of-Fame member Phil McIntyre, James F. Byrnes will host a massive field of 31 bands.

46th Annual Walterboro Band Classic

One of the oldest events in the state, this year’s Walterboro Classic features numerous SCBDA heavy-hitters competing against each other for the first time this season.

Lowcountry Invitational Marching Band Festival

LCI has become a Music For All Affiliate Marching Band Event for 2023, becoming the first event of its kind to be held in South Carolina.

White Knoll Silver Invitational

The 2023 White Knoll Silver Invitational features a strong lineup of bands, hailing mainly from the Lower State.

27th Annual Mustang Classic

Midland Valley HS, Graniteville, SC
Midland Valley HS will play host to bands from across the midlands in the latest edition to their long-running event.

Low Country Battle of the Bands

Woodland HS Football Stadium, Dorchester, SC

Woodland hosts one of the first large showstyle competitions of the year, with 17 schools scheduled to take part. Topping off the day will be an exhibition by the SC State Marching 101.
