The Spartanburg High School Percussion Ensemble has been invited to the 2024 Sandy Feldstein National Percussion Festival, part of the 2024 Music For All National Festival. This is the first invite for a South Carolina ensemble since the Stratford Wind Orchestra participated in the National Concert Band Festival in 2020. However, it is not the first time Spartanburg has made the trip – the percussion ensemble were previously invited in 2019.
The Sandy Feldstein National Percussion Festival is a part of the Music For All National Festival, held annually over three days in Indianapolis, IN. The event features High School and Middle School wind bands, orchestras, and percussion ensembles, and is often regarded as one of the most prestigious concert festivals in the nation. This year’s festival will be held from March 21-23, 2024.
The Spartanburg High School Percussion Ensemble is under the direction of Matthew McDaniel. The ensemble often performs a “tour” of concerts at district elementary schools in addition to a standalone concert at the end of the school year. Congratulations to Spartanburg on being one of seven Percussion ensembles selected for the 2024 festival!
